Google’s new search-as-you-type is pretty great and starts to move search away from the old paradigm of results pages — I’m finding these search box suggestions really influence my next few clicks.
So…what if Google started adding “sponsored suggestions” and used a bidding model similar to AdWords?
This could be an enormous money maker but also could result in Google playing even more of Kingmaker for ad partners. I’m surprised this hasn’t gotten more press/chatter.
Perhaps advertising in the sacred space of the results box is a bit too sacred or compromising even for Google, but I could see a path to making it work.
Man, those potential CPMs!
